Established in 1962, and refurbished in 1998, the Junk is a 33-meter-long traditional wooden sailing vessel with a blend of exotic and antique style, designed to show guests the fascinating underwater world of the Andaman Sea, Thailand. If you are a movie fan, the Junk is surely a great choice. She played a part in both James Bond’s “The Man with the Golden Gun” and the “Swiss Family Robinson”.
The Junk is fitted with 6 air-coned cabins, all with ensuite hot water shower and toilet, comfortably carrying 18 guests in total. Meals are taken very seriously onboard. Both local and international dishes are freshly prepared.
For leisure-time activities, there is a selection of onboard entertainment lurking behind the hand-carved facades of shelves, cabinets and drawers in the salon with an extensive library of books and videos. The bar is a good place to hang out with the fellow divers, and to unwind after a day of excitement.
With the Junk, guests can experience the clear, coral and fish filled waters in the Similan Islands, Surin Islands, and Phuket, where the water is warm year around and the marine life is prolific. The above water scenery will provide stunningly beautiful white sandy beaches with small forested areas; while under the surface guests may see zebra shark, blue spotted stingrays, clown trigger fish, snappers and giant trevally. The coral gardens, bommies and boulder formations there are also a wonderful choice to dive.
